In conduction testing, high spike signals (including very high spectral density/pulse energy) from LISN may cause damage to the input attenuator, preamplifier, preselector or input mixer in the EMI test receiver.
In order to effectively protect the test equipment, it is recommended to use a PAT 20M pulse limiter (or similar device) to effectively protect the EMI receiver during the conduction test, and even the EMI test system that has been protected against spikes, such as the product under test. Unknown, PAT20M is still recommended. The pulse voltage of this 20dB attenuator is designed to be 1 watt.
